What this site collects, what we hold, and what we will not do.
Plain English version. Written for small-business owners who reasonably want to know what happens to information they put into a website or send by email.
Operated from Australia. Times shown on this site and in correspondence are AEST or AEDT. Where money is mentioned, amounts are AUD unless we say otherwise.
This website
This is a static site. There is no account system, no login, no chatbot, no analytics that follow you across sites, and no advertising tracker. We do not embed third-party widgets that load external scripts.
Your browser fetches the pages and the assets (logo, images, fonts) directly from our hosting provider. We do not have a database connected to this site.
Logs at the hosting layer
Our hosting provider (Cloudflare Pages) keeps short-lived request logs that are normal for any website: IP, timestamp, the URL requested, the response status, and the user agent string. These logs exist to keep the site online and to investigate abuse. We do not use them to build a profile of you.
Cookies
This site does not set cookies that we control. The hosting provider may set a small operational cookie to keep the site fast and protected from abuse. We do not use cookies for analytics or advertising.
The free tools on this site
There are four interactive tools on this site: the Governance self-check, the Workflow X-ray, the Workflow Sketchpad, and the AI Department Readiness Check. They run entirely in your browser. Specifically:
- Your answers are processed locally in JavaScript on the page you have open.
- Nothing is uploaded, posted to a server, or stored in our systems.
- The Governance self-check, Workflow X-ray, and AI Department Readiness Check do not write answers to local storage. If you reload the page, the answers are gone.
- The Workflow Sketchpad can autosave a draft in your own browser storage so you do not lose a map while editing. That draft stays on your device unless you clear browser storage, download it, or email it.
- If you choose to press an email handoff button, your browser opens your own mail client with a pre-filled message. You decide whether to send it. Until you press send, we receive nothing. If you download a JSON or PDF-ready report from the Workflow Sketchpad or AI Department Readiness Check, that file is created locally on your device.
The X-ray, Sketchpad, and AI Department Readiness Check tools are labelled beta and use deterministic logic, not AI. We do not call any AI service from this site.
If you email us
If you email hello@automationnation.com.au, we receive a normal email and reply from a normal mailbox. We use Fastmail for our hosted email. We keep client correspondence for as long as the engagement is active and for the period required by Australian tax and accounting record-keeping rules.
Please do not include sensitive customer data in an unsolicited email. If we need that level of detail to scope work, we will agree a secure handover method first, in writing.
If you become a client
For a paid engagement, we sign a written agreement that covers the data we will see, where it lives, who can access it, how long we retain working files after the engagement ends, and what we will not do with it. The short version is on the How we work page; the engagement contract has the full terms.
- We do not put client data into free-tier consumer AI tools.
- We use paid AI services configured to not retain or train on client data, named in writing.
- We do not retain customer data after an engagement ends beyond what is needed for accounting, audit, or an explicit handover. Working files are deleted on a documented schedule.
- If something goes wrong with a workflow we run, you find out from us first.
Australian context
Automation Nation is operated from Australia and our client work is performed in Australia. We aim to align our handling of personal information with the Australian Privacy Principles where they apply, even where a small-business exemption might exist. If you are an Australian customer of one of our clients and you have a data question, we will route you to the right person at that business, since the data belongs to them, not to us.
Children
This site is for business owners and operators. It is not intended for children, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes
If we change something on this page that materially affects how data is handled, we will note it in the public changelog with the date.
Contact
